Experience 2: Giving & Taking

Short Meditation – “About a Place”

This is an experience about a place.

Passamaquoddy Bay and the Skutik river watershed are at the centre of a bio-region comprised of an infinitely complex set of relations.

Passamaquoddy Bay is an ecosystem in itself, and is also a part of other ecosystems.

The Bay is a bio-physical ecosystem (plants, animals, human animals eating and being eaten), a relational ecosystem (social relations and obligations between humans, and between humans and more-than-humans), an economic ecosystem (the ‘value’ of a fish is more than its price tag), a cultural ecosystem (the Territory is made up of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, immigrants, settlers, all with their own cultures and traditions), and an emotional ecosystem (everything that lives, feels outward into a shared emotional world). These ecosystems are always living, breathing, working, surviving, struggling, and thriving: 24 hours a day, every single second since forever.
